Shark Patrol sets out to develop a Safer Trading Network for our members

Shark Patrol offers two essential services, SHARK WATCH and SHARK CHECK, which are supported by other interrelated services. All of which can help you break the cycle of bad debts or unacceptable service by ensuring that the companies and individuals who deliberatly hurt you cannot go on to hurt others.

SHARK WATCH: enables members to avoid bad debt. On entering their customer base into Shark Watch, members are alerted each and every time another member lists an adverse trading experience against any of these customers. These alerts also encourage / allow members to contact each other and talk about their trading experience with this customer.

SHARK CHECK: provides in-depth information about potential new customers / tenants / suppliers etc. Members enter the details of potential new customers’ into Shark Check, which will alert the enquiring member to any adverse trading habits experienced by other members AND the number of other members trading happily with this customer. Shark Check also includes a match with the New Zealand Companies office.

Knowing how many other members are happily doing business with a potential new customer is arguably as valuable as knowing that they have a checkered history.

Note: In each instance that a members customer is an Identifiable Individual, the member would need the appropriate permissions under the Privacy Act, Credit Contract Act, any Employment Contact, and other binding documents BEFORE placing an entity on ‘Shark Watch’, or using Shark Check.

Additionally, to re-enforce Shark Patrol’s Membership Agreement, members will be asked, at random, to provide copies of the appropriate permissions / authorisation obtained from their customer/s – a bit like a random drug test. See Validation of Legitimate Business Relationships.

If a member cannot provide the evidence of authorisation then that customer is removed from the database and another random request will be made of that member to provide evidence of authorisation for another customer. And the three strikes and you out policy applies see DELINQUENT MEMBERS section.

SHARK NET: helps members resolve bad debt by giving them the tools, knowledge and support that can persuade customers to pay, a reminder that if they don’t pay they will be listed on the Shark Patrol database with an adverse rating.

Shark Patrol will provide a number of templates that will help small business ensure that, if they experience a problem payer, that they have completed the right steps and completed the right paper work to facilitate the collection and reporting process.
