To ensure the integrity of Shark Patrol's services, and mitigate malicious or fraudulent use of the database by its Members, the data controller will randomly select Customers and / or Suppliers on the Shark Watch database and request that Members supply 'Validation of their Legitimate Business Relationship'. The random selection will initially be the equivalent of 10% of a Members Watch list – 1 in every 10 Customers / Suppliers.
Acceptable forms of validation of a 'Legitimate Business Relationship' would include:
Where this involves an Identifiable Individual, validation must include, or reference, a Credit Reporting Agency Clause, see examples.
If a Member is not able to provide 'Validation of a Legitimate Business Relationship' via this random process, the Customer / Supplier in question is removed from the Members Watch list until such time appropriate authorisation is received.
If the same Member fails to 'Validate a Legitimate Business Relationship' on three consecutive requests then ALL Customers /Suppliers are removed from Shark Watch. Their Membership will also be reviewed, as a result.
Continued Membership of Shark Patrol would require a copy of authorisation for each and every Customer / Supplier, whether it be a Company or an 'Identifiable Individual', prior to use of Shark Check and Shark Watch. 'Validation of a Legitimate Business Relationship' documents can either be scanned and uploaded via the Members account section on the web site or faxed to the data controller.
Additionally, Members are alerted whenever another Member places them on Watch and / or places an adverse rating. The Member Control Panel has the option for Members to elect not to receive an alert each and every time another member places them on Shark Watch. Should they take this option they can view any new alerts in their History panel. These will show as unread the next time they login.
